金メッキを施した花弁の中央にイミテーションパールを配し、花の雄蕊を思わせる意匠としたチェーンベルトとイヤークリップのセット。デザインはCHANELによるもので、製作はRobert Goossensが担当した。実際の制作においては、CHANELとGoossensが打ち合わせを重ねながら造形・構造・装飾の細部を詰め、プロトタイプとして作り上げられた。

イヤークリップは、立体的に成形された金メッキの花弁と中央のイミテーションパールによって構成される。花弁には手仕事による凹凸や柔らかな歪みが見られ、試作品ならではの造形的な表情を示している。イヤークリップ本体にはCHANELのサインはない。

チェーンベルトは、V字状のチェーンリンクを編み込んだような幅広の構造を持ち、しなやかさと装飾性を兼ね備えている。楕円形のバックル中央には、イヤークリップと同様の花モチーフがあしらわれ、中央にはイミテーションパールが配されている。バックルの縁には粒状装飾が巡らされ、華やかで立体感のある仕上がりとなっている。裏面には、楕円形プレートに刻まれた CHANEL のサインが確認できる。

本作は、製作者であるRobert Goossens氏より直接譲り受けた来歴を持つ、証明済みのCHANELプロトタイプである。CHANELの意匠をもとに、Goossensの高度な金工技術と造形感覚によって具体化された、両者の協働関係を示す重要な作品である。

A CHANEL prototype set comprising a gold-plated chain belt and a pair of matching ear clips. The design is by CHANEL, while the piece was made by Robert Goossens. In practice, the prototype was developed through direct consultation between CHANEL and Goossens, with both parties refining the form, structure, and decorative details during the making process.

The ear clips are formed as sculptural gold-plated flowers, each centered with an imitation pearl evoking the stamen of a blossom. The petals show a hand-worked texture and subtle irregularities characteristic of a prototype. The ear clips are unsigned.

The chain belt is composed of interwoven V-shaped links, creating a broad, flexible, braided structure. The oval buckle is decorated with a matching floral motif at the center, also set with an imitation pearl, and framed by beaded detailing. The reverse bears an oval plaque stamped CHANEL.

Acquired directly from Robert Goossens, this prototype represents the collaborative working relationship between CHANEL and Goossens: a CHANEL design realized through Goossens’s craftsmanship and technical expertise.
